I imagined it was ideal.
Will imagined I was insane.
But he knew if he didn’t help me load it into the automobile that I would do regardless of what it took to get it in there myself. So, reluctantly, he assisted me load the door, and it turned mine!

Not only did we reduce out the major four panels and exchange them with glass, but we turned it into a Dutch Door and I could not be happier with the end result!

Dutch Door Stage 3: Add the Ledge
We extra a ledge on to the base 50 % of the door. The initial door was a couple of inches shorter than the doorways in our property, so we had to fill that hole. Nothing at all a straightforward 2×4 couldn’t fix…
Dutch Door Stage five: Add Glass Panels
Originally, we imagined we would use plexiglass to make the home windows in the major 50 % of the door, but the more we imagined about it, we knew that we could discover a piece of glass that not only suited our aesthetic, but just one that would make the door that substantially more unique.
We headed to Tacoma and identified the coolest glass store. My only needs for the glass were that it let each individual little bit of attainable light-weight by means of and that it have texture.
We settled on a piece of glass known as “Falling Rain”. You get the picture – a little streaky and bubbly. I determined to flip the glass sideways so that the streaks run from side to side, in its place of major to base.
The glass suit beautifully and we held it in put with a bead of silicone…
Will reduce strips of wood to body in and secure the glass on the back side of the door…

Dutch Door Stage 6: Finishing Touches
We stained the ledge on the base 50 % to match the glass trim parts and also re-positioned a modest piece of components that was on the door when we 1st picked it up. I have no idea what it was made use of for, but it is aged and aged and I like it!
We also extra a sliding lock on the back of the door to maintain the major and base alongside one another, when needed.
I was giddy when it was all said and performed!
And eight months later…I however am!
It lets light-weight into our hallway, which was what I had constantly needed. What is the stage of obtaining a window in a dazzling, light-weight-filled laundry area if you never, at any time see it in any case?
Now, we see the light-weight!
I unquestionably owe Will a large, huge Thank You for serving to me make this come about!
